How to increase your productivity morning tips

Do some stretchings in the morning

While you are sleeping at night you tent to get stay in one position for a longer time. And when you get up, your body might be stiff from laying down. That is why it is a good idea to stretch your body a little before you start your day. Do not worry. This does not have to take long. Even five or ten minutes can be greatly beneficial. I personally use yoga to do this. Here you can find some cool programs to do from home. Even when you are a beginner.

Have a healthy breakfast

You must have heard before that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And it really is. But having breakfast is not considered something you need to do when you just roll out of bed. It actually is considered good to be a bit more active before breakfast. That is where the stretching comes in. Having your breakfast up to till two hours after you got up is the way to go. And then what you eat is what is most important. Have some fruit, oatmeal, nuts, raisins etc. Personally I am no fan of eating dairy because I do not think a grownup needs milk products. But that is just my opinion. Do what you feel is right in this case.

Get up early

Early in the morning is when we are most active during our days. So say goodbye to all the snoozing and start your day early. I get up at 6 am every morning, but there are people who swear by getting up at 5 am. What would be the right time for you to get up to fit in your daily work-out, healthy breakfast and your mind growing (follows later on so keep reading)? Try this out for at least two weeks. It might be hard at first but it will get easier. Maybe it is good to know that it takes an average person about 30 days to learn a new habit. And if you would like some help tracking your routine, you might like my morning routine checklist.

Listen to inspirational audio or video

Spend 15 minutes of every day learning something new. I personally like to listen to audiobooks, watch informational video’s on Youtube or read a book. If you do this in the morning you immediately receive the right vibe for the rest of the day. When you listen to the right ones you’ll get inspired to do something more with your life. That sets a good example for the rest of your day. If you are looking for some good books to read, I made a list of suggestions with my favourites.

How to increase your productivity

A great mindset can help you come a long way

Set your targets

How can you increase your productivity? By changing your goals into targets. A goal is something solid. It is something that you need to achieve or otherwise you’ll have failed miserably. A target is more like a guideline. It is a place you now know you would like to go to. But when you as a person change, you might have different targets, different things you would like to do. It is not a crime to change direction when something is not working out for you. When you are willing to be open to change something better beyond your own belief is able to show up. Write down your target and get the energy of them. What can you add to your life that has this same energy?

Ask the right questions

As a little follow up on using targets, asking questions is something that prevents you from jumping into a conclusion. Experience for yourself when something doesn’t work out the way you thought it would. You have two options here. You can say to yourself that you failed because things did not work out the way you thought they had to. Or you can ask a question like “What is the gift in this I have not been willing to see?” or “How does it get better than this?”

Be grateful for the things you have in life

Gratitude is the thing that can change your life in an instant. We tent to see only the things we do not have but too often we forget the things that are already in our lives. A good idea therefor is to start every day with naming ten things you are grateful for. You can write them down, say they out loud or just remember them in your head. See what a different space this can create for you. This is also a great way to end your day. Just before you go to sleep you name the 10 things you are happy about they are in your life or on this planet.

Do something you are avoiding every day

Are you familiar with the tasks you need to do but you keep delaying them because you do not feel like doing it right now? Stop avoiding things that come into your life. If you are truly wondering how to increase your productivity, this is the way to do it. By choosing one task you have been avoiding to do and just do it. When you look back on it it probably cost you more effort to avoid it than to actually do it.

Check in with your targets daily

Now you have set some targets for yourself, it is import to look at them daily. You do not have to do something with them. Just connect with the feeling they give you. This way you are reminded what the energy is you would like to create in your life. You keep living in that flow.

How to increase your productivity actions to take

Put your celphone on mute

When you are focussing on the task at hand, put your phone on mute. Or just turn it off completely. I am sometimes amazed at how other people always expect us to respond to them immediately 24/7. You do not need to choose this. It is oké not to be available sometimes. Also, prevent yourself from scrolling down on social media every five minutes. If this is one of your habits, put your phone away entirely.

Keep the blood pomping

Doing some cardio training is a great way to stay productive. Because you keep the blood flowing through your body, you’ll feel happier and more alive. It makes you more productive during the day. So take the stairs instead of the elevator, go for a run, visit a hot yoga class or do some cardio at the gym. Note that not every form of exercise is good for any person. Therefor start slowly if your body is not used to moving and find out what works for you.

Do something you love every day

It might seem so obvious so some of you but do you know what actually makes you happy? What is the thing you like to do even if you would not get any benefit out of it? I have been so caught up in things that I did not know this for a long time. And when I started to ask myself this question on a daily basis, things finally started to unravel. How to increase your productivity? By doing something you really love to do. Not because someone tells you to do it but because it would bring you joy.

Keep short breaks

Never work longer than two hours in one run. You’ll start to lose your focus and therefore you will lose your productivity. What you can do instead is take a five-minute break. Take this time to take a different posture for a while. Move your body, just to get it to flow again. Make yourself something to eat or drink just to be in a different mindset. You will see that even this short break can make you feel refreshed.

Dare to say no

You do not always have to be up and running when somebody asks you to. If you committed yourself into doing something, dare to stick to it. Others might ask you to come over or would like to talk to you on the phone for hours. But you get to say no. If you feel that finishing what you started is going to create more for you, do not be afraid to say so to others. It is oké to make a different choice than the people around you. Those who love you will understand. If not, you are better off without them anyway.
